The anaesthesia, which we offer in the treatment of your teeth, is not the anaesthesia, one could see over than 10 years ago, just like the telephone in your pocket is way different, much like the TV or the dental implant of more than 10 years ago.
Of course, in many hospitals and wards, hardly anything has changed, since the majority still uses old phones and watch analogue TV.
Modern reliable anaesthesia includes three key elements – medications, equipment and people.
Modern medications allow the performance of anaesthesia only within the duration of the intervention - dental treatment of small children or tooth implantation for adults. In the past there were no such medications and the entry into anaesthesia and especially the coming out of anaesthesia after surgery, used to take a lot of time. Modern medications have a short half-life, they are quickly released from the body, which makes it possible for us to send the patient home merely hours after surgery. Therefore, 70% of all surgeries worldwide, are performed within a single day and require no hospitalization.
The modern anaesthesia equipment may be referred to as “smart“. The “smart“ device “breathes“ just like a human being, it “understands” who is in front of it – a child or an adult, and adapts to each individual body’s characteristics and indicators.
Other devices in continuous operation show the slightest changes in the body, such as changes in the pulse or blood pressure. The oxygen concentrator is a state-of-the-art device, producing oxygen, so that it replaces oxygen bottles, because the presence of oxygen in modern medical institution is not a matter of choice, but a necessity!
Both the equipment and the medications (in modern anaesthesiology there is no “miracle drug, but several different ones need to be used simultaneously), are controlled by the anaesthesiologists. Even the most experienced dentist cannot promptly react to changes in the human body, even during a routine local anaesthesia, without an anaesthesiologist and suitable equipment.
Unfortunately, all modern medications are expensive! The modern anaesthesiologic equipment is also very expensive! Maintaining permanent presence of an anaesthesiologist is very expensive as well, but this is safe and provides our patients with a new option!
Depending on your health, age, treatment plan and personal preferences, our anaesthesiologist will choose the best method of anaesthesia – whether it is general anaesthesia, sedation or “deep sedation” or medical accompanying of medically compromised patients.
Our experience of more than 10 years in the treatment of children and adults under anaesthesia give you another reason not to be afraid of the dentist!
