Step by step, we started to repay the loans for the clinic at Rakovski street. We started having more and more patients, so we faced another problem: the lack of decision-making and work system. Things were very easy while we were still 8-10 people. I knew everyone from the team, I knew their families, I knew about their problems and had even been on short vacations with some of them. The new situation, however, was radically different and I could no longer make different decisions every time in order to solve the ongoing tasks and problems. We needed a system, a system for work with the patients, a system of hierarchy and internal relationships.
This is how we had to create the “The Duchev Clinic System". Strict work organization with every new patient, focused on the idea of working under medical sleep. Everyone from the team is aware what needs to happen during the first, second and the rest of the visits of our patients, and everyone is aware – the patients and the team members – of the need of an up-to-date panoramic dental x-ray, consultation with the chief doctor and professional oral hygiene. Of course, not everyone likes this system. Some people do not understand why all these steps are needed. "I just have a hole in my tooth!”, they say. It takes a long time to explain how a complete consultation can really reveal unexpected problems and how a panoramic x-ray can save a human life.
Meanwhile, the practice in the pediatric unit started to expand. More and more children and their parents started seeking our help. The two days we had decided to dedicate to work with children, were no longer sufficient. The popularity of the clinic started to grow, and we needed another location.
Two other important events took place at that time. First, we restructured the company and re-registered the legal entity from a group practice to a medical and dental center, and then from a limited liability company to a joint stock company. The second event was the entry of an investor. Our passing through the process of company research was both serious and refreshing - I learned things about the company which I wouldn’t have learned otherwise.
A consequence of all this was the launch of our new project: Pediatric Clinic and Dental Care Office. Located in a separate building and occupying more than 1000 m², this business project is truly unique in Bulgaria. In essence, the dental care office is a dental clinic with a sole service: professional oral hygiene. One service for everyone. We don’t have patients there, we have customers. When people approach me now and ask me: “What can I do about my teeth”, I respond: “Brush your teeth at home twice a day and visit the Dental Care Office twice a year, this is how you will never find out how expensive Dr. Duchev’s dental implants are”.
